Grey's Anatomy

Trama:
Grey's Anatomy è una serie televisiva statunitense di genere medico, vincitrice di Emmy e Golden Globe award. È incentrata sulla vita della protagonista, la D.ssa Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), una tirocinante al primo anno di chirurgia all'immaginario Seattle Grace Hospital di Seattle. Nella serie risalta inoltre un cast d'insieme compatto ed importante nel contesto narrativo, ma Meredith è rappresentata come il personaggio centrale, che spesso narra come voce fuori campo l'inizio e la fine di gran parte degli episodi. La serie è trasmessa oltreoceano dalla ABC ed in Italia da Sky Italia sul canale Fox Life e da Italia 1.

L'edizione italiana della serie è a cura di Giuppy Izzo e Barbara Castracane per Pumaisdue.

Il titolo della serie gioca sull'omofonia fra il cognome della protagonista e Henry Gray, autore del celebre manuale medico di anatomia Gray's Anatomy (L'anatomia di Gray).

Il programma è stato lodato per il suo cast non tradizionale. Shonda Rhimes, produttrice esecutiva della serie, ha infatti dichiarato di essere orgogliosa di aver usato la tecnica del blind-casting, ovvero di non aver concordato in precedenza la razza dei personaggi, scegliendo gli attori su basi prettamente recitative.[1] Questo ha portato ad aggiungere un livello di complessità al programma stesso.

Curiosità:
I due protagonisti di Grey's Anatomy (Ellen Pompeo e Patrick Dempsey) guadagnano $ 200.000 dollari a puntata.
La prima puntata della terza stagione ha battuto per la prima volta CSI: 25 milioni di spettatori.
Nella versione originale, i titoli degli episodi coincidono con titoli di famose canzoni.
Per questa serie sono stati riutilizzati coperte e lenzuoli di un'altra famosa serie ospedaliera, Chicago Hope.
Il soprannome Dr. Stranamore (McDreamy in inglese) è stato assegnato direttamente da Shonda Rhimes a Patrick Dempsey (Derek Shepherd).
La prima stagione è composta da 13 episodi di cui 4 sono stati incorporati alla seconda, che da sola conta ben 22 episodi.
Negli Stati Uniti la serie nella sua prima stagione ha avuto grande successo di ascolti, anche grazie al posizionamento nel palinsesto subito dopo Desperate Housewives.
In principio la serie avrebbe dovuto concludersi con la fine della prima stagione. Il suo scopo infatti, era quello di fare da tappabuchi per riempire i consueti periodi morti delle stagioni televisive.
Nel film Sotto il sole della Toscana del 2003, le attrici Sandra Oh (Cristina) e Kate Walsh (Addison) interpretano una coppia omosessuale in attesa di un figlio: nella serie notoriamente le due sono in contrapposizione per via di Meredith.

Musica:

La musica è una parte rilevante di Grey's Anatomy. Il titolo di ogni episodio è infatti tratto da una canzone (soprattutto del genere pop) e, in ogni episodio, vengono utilizzate molte canzoni, gran parte conosciute o celebri. Il tema della sigla d'apertura e di chiusura è un frammento del brano Cosy in the Rocket del gruppo britannico Psapp. La canzone è stata inserita nel CD della colonna sonora della serie.

Grey's Anatomy è stato lo strumento del successo di Chasing Cars degli Snow Patrol e di How to Save a Life dei The Fray, entrambe entrate nei primi posti delle classifiche in seguito al programma. How to Save a Life è la canzone usata nelle anteprime statunitensi di Grey's Anatomy e nei video promozionali della serie.

La canzone dei The Fray era stata utilizzata nella quinta stagione di Scrubs, come sottofondo di un famoso fallimento del Dottor Cox, nella puntata 5x20, intitolata Il Mio Pranzo.

Nel 2007, il secondo volume della colonna sonora di Grey's Anatomy è stato candidato ai Grammy Award nella categoria Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media.

Ellen Pompeo
Ruolo: Meredith Grey
Dottoressa di talento, laureatasi al Dartmouth College e tirocinante in chirurgia al Seattle Grace Hospital, Meredith Grey narra le vicende del telefilm tramite la voce fuori campo all'inizio e alla fine di ogni episodio (con l'eccezione di 3 episodi).
È la figlia di Ellis Grey (Kate Burton), colpita da un precoce morbo di Alzheimer e che ha avuto una relazione con Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.), il primario di chirurgia del Seattle Grace Hospital.
Abita nella casa che era di sua madre insieme alla sua collega Isobel "Izzie" Stevens (Katherine Heigl) e l'altro collega George O'Malley (T.R. Knight).

Sandra Oh
Ruolo: Cristina Yang
Cristina Yang è di origini coreane e di educazione ebrea (sua madre si è convertita dopo il suo secondo matrimonio). È nata a Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. Cristina crede solo nella scienza ed è un'atea convinta. Sua madre ha sposato il suo patrigno, il Dott. Saul Rubenstein, tre anni dopo la nascita di Cristina. Cristina ha perso il suo padre biologico quando aveva 9 anni in un incidente automobilistico e lo ha visto morire dissanguato prima che arrivassero i soccorsi. Ha conseguito la laurea in Chimica all'Università della California di Berkeley e la laurea in Medicina alla Stanford University, prima del suo corso.
L'ambiziosa Cristina continua ad avere le idee chiare e a perseguire il suo unico obiettivo: diventare un chirurgo di grande successo.

Katherine Heigl
Ruolo: Isobel 'Izzie' Stevens
Izzie è la bionda compagna di stanza di Meredith e George. È cresciuta vicino Chehalis, Washington vivendo in un trailer park, e si è pagata la scuola di medicina facendo la modella di abbigliamento intimo.

Justin Chambers
Ruolo: Alex Karev
Il Dr. Alex Karev è un ex wrestler dell'University of Iowa, ed ha studiato medicina grazie ad una borsa di studio per sportivi. Alex è diventato un wrestler perché suo padre, un musicista drogato era solito picchiare sua madre. Alex picchiò il padre dopo che aveva colpito la madre; questi finì in ospedale e dopo il ricovero abbandonò Alex e la madre.

T.R. Knight
Ruolo: George O'Malley
George è uno dei coinquilini di Meredith. Ha un'infatuazione per lei sin dal loro primo incontro. Spesso é il più emotivo tra gli uomini dell'ospedale, a volte si imbatte in litigi con altri nonostante la sua personalità positiva. Ha una personalità molto differente da quella dei suoi fratelli, uno dei quali ha accidentalmente sparato suo padre durante una battuta di caccia per il Ringraziamento. George si è laureato all' Oregon Health and Sciences University.

Patrick Dempsey
Ruolo: Derek Shepherd
Dopo aver scoperto Addison (sua moglie) a letto con Mark (suo migliore amico), Derek dichiara finito il suo matrimonio e si trasferisce a Seattle, accettando un’offerta di lavoro del suo ex-insegnante, il Dott. Richard Webber, come capo di Neurochirurgia al Seattle Grace Hospital e dando dietro la casa per una roulotte su un’ampia proprietà in riva al fiume.

Chandra Wilson
Ruolo: Miranda Bailey
Specializzanda di chirurgia all'ultimo anno- capo degli specializzandi, soprannominata La Nazista.

Isaiah Washington
Ruolo: Preston Burke
Il Dott. Burke è considerato tra i maggiori esperti nel campo della cardiochirurgia ed attualmente lavora al Seattle Grace Hospital. Dopo aver terminato gli studi pre-medici alla Tulane University, Burke si laurea alla Johns Hopkins Medical School, primo del suo corso. Diventa capo degli specializzandi metre il Dr. Webber è primario di neurochirurgia. Il suo hobby preferito è suonare la tromba e gli piace la musica jazz.

Kate Walsh
Ruolo: Addison Sheperd Montgomery
è una capace ginecologa, nuovo acquisto del Seattle Grace Hospital. Infatti Addison si è trasferita a Seattle da New York per seguire suo marito, il dottor Derek Sheperd e provare a ricostruire il loro matrimonio andato in pezzi dopo i rispettivi tradimenti.

Sara Ramirez
Ruolo: Callie Torres
Attualmente strutturata al quinto anno in ortopedia al Seattle Grace Hospital, Callie Torres è cresciuta nel Sud della Florida. Si sa poco della sua storia, ma lei stessa si descrive come "la ragazza in fondo alla classe che si mangia i capelli", indicando che era probabilmente una disadattata a scuola.

James Pickens Jr.
Ruolo: Dottor Richard Webber
Durante il suo praticantato al Seattle Grace, da giovane, ebbe una relazione con la madre di Meredith, Ellis Grey, anche se entrambi erano sposati. Anche se Ellis lasciò suo marito, Richard non riuscì a lasciare la moglie, Adele. Ha insegnato a New York a Addison e Derek. Inoltre ha avuto sei problemi di dipendenza dall'alcool.

Eric Dane
Ruolo: Mark Sloane
Ha studiato medicina e come specializzazione ha scelto chirurgia plastica; col tempo è diventato uno dei migliori chiurughi della East Coast. Mentre il matrimonio tra Derek ed Addison cominciava ad avere i primi problemi, lei e Mark ebbero una relazione e Derek li sorprese mentre facevano sesso.

Stagione 1

Trama:
Meredith Grey è una brillante stagista di chirurgia del Seattle Grace Hospital che vive il passaggio dalla vita da studentessa a quella di vera dottoressa tra difficoltà lavorative e aspirazioni amorose. Le ambizioni di Meredith sono però oscurate dai problemi familiari: sua madre, un'illustre chirurgo, è costretta in una casa di cura per una tremenda malattia che non le fa ricordare di avere una figlia. Accanto a lei si intrecciano le vite dei suoi amici-colleghi di tirocinio, Cristina Yang, Izzie Stevens, George O'Malley e Alex Karev. Questi tirocinanti sono guidati da un team di dottori formato da Miranda Bailey, la responsabile del gruppo soprannominata dai ragazzi ''The Nazi'' per la sua durezza, Derek Shepherd, chirurgo di gran classe nonché amante segreto di Meredith e infine Preston Burke un chirurgo di enorme talento, che spesso però si dimostra arrogante e superbo. Tutti sono supervisionati dal Dr. Richard Webber, primario di chirurgia dell'ospedale, un uomo decisamente paterno, ma allo stesso tempo severo ed esigente.
I cinque giovani si troveranno ben presto a condividere esperienze molto importanti e a competere tra loro entrando così nella vita stressante tipica di un ospedale.

La prima stagione si è conclusa praticamente con il nono episodio, anche se avrebbe dovuto comprendere i successivi 4 episodi inglobati dalla ABC (anche da Fox Life e Italia 1) con la seconda stagione, che per questo è composta da 27 episodi (23+4).

Trama:
